Kimma Coppedge

Kimma was born and raised in Charlotte, NC.  She began dancing at B.B. Dance Productions at the age of 2.  While traveling and competing with the competition team for 15 years, she also attended Northwest School of the Arts where she majored in Dance.  Kimma received intensive technical training from both establishments in a variety of styles such as Ballet, Pointe, Modern, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical/Contemporary, Hip Hop, and Gymnastics.  She was a valuable part of dance groups that won Regional and National Championships.  At the age of 8, Kimma traveled to New York City to perform on "It's Showtime at the Apollo" with the Fierce Five, appeared in a Mayfield Ice Cream commercial as a guest dancer, and also entertained on the Walt Disney World stage during her competitive years.

Kimma is a graduate of Winston-Salem State University holding a Bachelors of Science in Special Education.  While completing her undergraduate studies, Kimma performed with the Scarlet Lace dance team for the Red Sea of Sound Marching Band where she experienced the style of majorette dancing.  Shortly after, she relocated to Houston, TX to continue her education at Houston Baptist University where she earned her Masters of Education degree with a specialization in Educational Diagnostics. Throughout her educational journey in different areas, she was fortunate to be able to continue teaching dance to both children and adults.    

In 2019, Kimma moved back to Charlotte, NC and returned to her home studio to teach again.  She is currently a Special Education K-8 Teacher at Sugar Creek Charter School in a self-contained classroom.  Kimma has 12 years of experience in teaching dance to individuals from the age of 2 to adults and she is excited to continue her journey at B.B. Dance Productions. She believes that "Dance is the hidden language of the soul".
